چکیده

A laboratory investigation of abrasive waterjet cutting wheat straws was conducted. The work aimed at a systematic characterization the capability straws, as potential alternative to discs currently adopted in no-till drills and planters for crop residue management. two level 2IV7?3 fractional factorial design applied investigate influence process parameters on efficiency straws. Straw coverage thickness, water pressure, orifice diameter were found be most significant ones. Experimental results suggest that straw mechanism is mostly related hydraulic power jet. multiple logistic regression performed model relationship between jet power. then estimate average consumption during no-tillage seeding operation. An 6400 W would sufficiently high guarantee 90% presence heavy distribution. experimental study shows small quantity powder (50 g·min?1) allows one increase reduce required maximum power, compared pure cutting. Results show are potentially relevant field validation agriculture based no-tillage.

Surface Texture in Abrasive Waterjet Cutting

When cutting thick material with an abrasive wateriet, the surface area can be characterized by two texture types. At the top of the cut, the surface texture is smooth. At the bottom, the slurry jet exiting the workpiece forms large striations in the surface. An investigation was conducted to experimentafly determine the influence of the abrasive waterjet cutting parameters on surface texture. ...

Preliminary Results of Experimental Cutting of Porcine Bones by Abrasive Waterjet

Prikaz stanja The first medical applications of this technology were published in the eighties of the last century [1], when a jet of water [6, 7, 8, 9] was used for cutting soft tissues [1, 2]. There are currently no available relevant studies exploring in detail the use of abrasive waterjet cutting in orthopaedic surgery for the implantation and re-implantation of total hip and for knee repla...

Low Pressure Abrasive Waterjet Use for Precision Drilling and Cutting of Rock

Construction of a second theater underground at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis required a quiet, non-intrusive means of rock removal, capable of cutting the vertical walls of the theater down to a depth of 4.5 meters, within a vertical accuracy of 2.5 cm. A low pressure (35 MPa) abrasive laden waterjet was developed for this; and, also modified as an abrasive waterjet drill to emplace 25 mm diam...

Predicting Depth of Penetration in Abrasive Waterjet Cutting of Polycrystalline Ceramics

Abstract—This paper presents a model to predict the depth of penetration in polycrystalline ceramic material cut by abrasive waterjet. The proposed model considered the interaction of cylindrical jet with target material in upper region and neglected the role of threshold velocity in lower region. The results predicted with the proposed model are validated with the experimental results obtained...

Influence of Process Parameters on Surface Roughness in Abrasive Waterjet Cutting of Titanium

Abrasive waterjet cutting is one of the nontraditional machining processes capable of cutting wide range of hard-to-cut materials. This process incurs relatively higher initial investment, maintenance and operating costs. Therefore optimum choice of the process parameters is essential for the economic, efficient and effective utilization of this process. This paper assesses the influence of pro...
